Two-dozen Lubbock prairie dogs are now living in the Land of Enchantment.
The small ground-dwelling mammals have been relocated to Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park in Carlsbad, N.M.
Joann Haddock, founder and president of Citizens for Prairie Dogs — a local rescue group — said she collected the animals from the grounds of the Lubbock State-Supported Living Center (not Texas Tech as recently reported by The Associated Press).
