City officials say there are too many serious or fatal accidents involving pedestrians on Avenue Q from 19th Street to 50 Street. It needs to be fixed, and the Texas Department of Public Safety is offering money to fix it.
However, the state’s Turnback Program may present a catch-22 to a recently proposed roadway improvement project in that area.
“It’s a street that needs attention,” Councilman Victor Hernandez said.
