From the road, it still looks like a humble brick building. But from the inside out, the Caviel African-American Museum is beginning to take shape.
“Compared to what it was, this is great,” Eric Strong, volunteer director of the Roots Historical Arts Council in Lubbock, said.
Renovating the former Caviel’s Pharmacy building at 1719 Avenue A has taken a bit longer than expected, Strong said. A preview event scheduled for Friday, Feb. 21, had to be postponed due to a delay in installing a front window.
