When a child needs to be hospitalized, one of the last things on the mind of a parent is where they’re going to stay.
“What we do is keep families together while their kids are getting better,” said Phyllis Jones, director of development for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest. “When a child needs immediate emergency care, we’re a safe haven for them.”
The length of each stay varies, but Jones said a two- to three-night stay is normal.
The 17-room house is currently filled to about 85 percent capacity, Jones said.
