Staples, Perry to address water issues
Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples will join state Rep. Charles Perry and representatives from Texas Tech at a news conference at 2:30 p.m. today, April 1, at the Mckenzie-Merket Alumni Center, 2521 17th St.
The news conference will be used to challenge Texas to start conserving water by using the Texas Water Smart Program.
The U.S. Drought Monitor reports that since last October, the Texas Panhandle has received only 15 to 35 percent of normal precipitation levels for this time of year.
