Brett Wilhelm hit a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning and Lubbock Christian University ended its season Saturday with a 5-4 victory and series sweep against the University of Texas-Permian Basin.
LCU (39-10, 26-4) is ineligible for the Heartland Conference championship and the postseason, but the Chaparrals finished with the league’s best record by three games over champion St. Edward’s (36-13, 23-7).
The Chaps finished the season 24-4 at home and went 30-3 in their final 33 games.
