Karen Gibson will return to the Lubbock City Council for another term after the Saturday election.
The current mayor pro tem and District 5 representative received 62.78 percent of the vote, with challenger Brian Carr receiving 37.22 percent of the 3,240 votes cast.
A mix of excitement and humility is what Gibson said she felt as she looked toward a second term.
“You run a good campaign, you stick to the issues and you go forth with what you know is right and what is good,” she said.
