About 14 years ago “Honky Tonk Kid” Aaron Watson was rolling through town as the wind blew eerie and cold.
And as he passed the exit he normally took to a girlfriend’s house, he realized just how cold and lonely those Lubbock lights could be. He traveled back to Amarillo, but as he did, Watson realized there was a song to be had in that moment.
The waltz is called “Lonely Lubbock Lights.”
Watson is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Wild West.
