The Lubbock Area United Way announced a campaign goal of $5,837,767 during its 2014 annual Campaign Kick-Off Luncheon on Aug. 28. Nearly half of that goal, which is the largest it's ever had, is expected to be raised by companies that conduct employee workplace campaigns, according to a news release.
The companies are aided by volunteers, known as loaned executives. The individuals are loaned by their employer to work with United Way on a part-time basis assisting other companies with their United Way workplace campaigns.
