The Lubbock Economic Index achieved a second monthly record high in May, fuelled by a continued increase in retail spending and a falling unemployment rate, according to numbers released by Lubbock National Bank.
The bank, sponsor of the monthly economic yardstick, issued the May report on Monday, July 1.
The index finished May at 135.0, up from a previous record high of 134.5 in April, and an 8.3 percent improvement from the May 2012 index of 124.7.
