AUSTIN — For the first time in more than two decades, no incumbent is running for re-election in Texas House District 83.
What’s more, HD 83 has not had a representative since mid-July, when then-Rep. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock, stepped down so he could run in the special election in Senate District 28, which he now represents.
But come Nov. 4, Democrat Max Tarbox and Republican Dustin Burrows hope to represent the semirural House district that includes about 40 percent of the Lubbock County population plus all of Borden, Gaines, Lynn, Mitchell, Scurry and Terry counties.
