The city of Lubbock is in poor financial shape, and we have no one to blame but ourselves. The citizens of this city have allowed this City Council and previous ones collectively to burden us with more than $1 billion of debt.
This is money that has to be paid back to bondholders with interest. The interest alone on this huge debt is more than $50 million annually.
