The Salvation Army’s need to cook 100 turkeys for its annual Thanksgiving meal for the homeless became threatened, but help from the community made it possible to meet the goal.
The top part of its oven stopped working, and the Salvation Army was only able to cook eight turkeys at a time instead of 16.
Other nonprofit organizations such as the Bridge of Lubbock and Second Baptist Church participated, and local restaurant River Smith’s cooked some of the turkeys.
