Shirley Leon Garrison was the kind of person who would have been a great asset to any city in which he chose to live. Lubbock is very fortunate he lived here.
Similarly, he would have been an outstanding alumnus of any university. Texas Tech is lucky to count Garrison among its graduates.
Garrison, who died in his Lubbock home on Dec. 13 at the age of 94, was a dedicated philanthropist who helped Tech establish one of the leading facilities in the world for Alzheimer’s research.
