Letter: Handling of fire deserves thanks

It’s not normal to see patients receiving chemotherapy treatments in the parking lot. But then, last Thursday wasn’t a normal day.

The fire at University Medical Center started when an oxygen line was accidently cut during construction. It burned through the ceiling of the basement and into the Endoscopy Lab, and filled several other units with smoke. One construction worker received minor burns to his hands and arms. About a dozen others were treated for smoke inhalation.

Gratefully, all can be healed, cleaned and rebuilt.
