A new museum and gateway will welcome visitors to East Lubbock in 2014.
Bricks for the East Lubbock Gateway are recycled from Wheatley Elementary school, which was recently demolished, and are being used to construct columns. The gateway, which will be completed later in 2014, will extend about a half-mile along Avenue A from 17th through 23rd streets. Many of the volunteers and supporters of the project attended Wheatley.
