LCU women picked to win Heartland
Lubbock Christian University was picked to win the Heartland Conference women’s basketball race in the preseason poll of the league’s coaches and sports information directors released this week.
The Lady Chaparrals received 17 of 20 first-place votes. Arkansas-Fort Smith got the other three.
St. Mary’s, St. Edward’s and the University of Texas-Permian Basin comprised the rest of the top five in the 10-team league.
The Lady Chaps have three exhibition games, including Nov. 2 at national champion Connecticut.
