A central Lubbock house is a total loss after a fire late Sunday morning in the structure fire officials say should have been unoccupied.
Six Lubbock Fire Rescue units responded to the fire about 11:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of 26th Street, according to a statement from the department.
Crews arrived to find the residence "fully involved" with heavy fire conditions. It took crews about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.
The city of Lubbock codes department had tagged the structure as illegal to occupy prior to the fire.
