For the first time since 2001, the Texas Tech baseball team landed a recruiting class ranked in the top 40 in the nation according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
The publication released its rankings on Friday, with Tech’s 2013 class coming in at No. 27 and one of five Big 12 schools ranked in the top 40.
This class was also ranked No. 24 by Perfect Game, but the Collegiate Baseball ranking takes into account recruits who actually showed up on campus. Those who were drafted and/or signed a pro contract were not counted.
